A refurbishment that has completed at a local store has created five new jobs within the store, and will see a new Post Office open in the coming weeks, alongside a host of new products to provide value on the doorsteps of the local community.

SPAR Anderson Gardens officially reopened after works completed to bring new products, including fresh, locally sourced groceries to the aisles, alongside a new Delish deli complete with a Pick n Mix Chicken Bar and a new SPAR Bakery selection.

Local suppliers such as Omagh’s own Sliced, the freshly pre-prepared and nutritionally balanced meals taking NI by storm, join Annie’s Traditional Foods from Coleraine and SPAR’s own-brand range The Kitchen in store. The Kitchen is a range of family favourites and meals for one, packed with flavour and made in collaboration with a host of local producers. These local products are complemented by the butchery meats from The Meat Joint, also hailing from Omagh, and whose trusted products return within the new-look store.

Shoppers will be wowed by the natural light flooding the updated space, while enjoying a new and more efficient shopping experience thanks to the choice of check-out options, including the traditional tills with staff or the two new self-check-outs that have been installed.

Stephen Dowds Store Manager at SPAR Anderson Gardens says the shop’s refit more than meets the demands of the residential community which they serve; “Our new store is a breath of fresh air for the whole community. Not only has the shopping experience been vastly improved to allow our shoppers to browse our new array of fresh and local groceries for tonight’s tea, but our new services bring even more convenience under one roof.

“Those who are stopping by to pick up breakfast or lunch from our new Delish deli, can also take advantage of our new self-check-outs, and of course enjoy a takeaway hot drink from our Barista Bar machines.

“We are looking forward to the new Post Office opening in the next week or so, while our team continues to engage with the local community, both with organisations close to home and those charities which do outstanding work across the whole of Northern Ireland.”

A team from the store recently cleaned up the residential area around the store with a litter pick, and thanks to the generosity of shoppers and the team, a donation of over £1,200 worth of grocery products was made to the Omagh branch of St. Vincent de Paul, an organisation within which the store’s community representative, Deirdre Allen, regularly volunteers. The team has also recently supported Omagh Golf Club and has donated store vouchers towards the recent Coolnagard Family Fun Day over the summer.

Stephen added; “We also regularly hold in-store fundraising challenges and events to support charities that do incredible work for those in need across NI, including Cancer Fund for Children and Air Ambulance.

“When we officially reopened, we held a fun day for our shoppers and local community, where we welcomed Air Ambulance to continue their fundraising with our team and shoppers through a sponsored ‘spinathon’. We also had a host of family fun with face painting, balloon modelling and Chase from Paw Patrol even made an appearance. It was fantastic to welcome our shoppers and neighbours to our new-look store.”

Mark McCammond, Retail Director at Henderson Group added; “We are delighted with the all-new SPAR Anderson Gardens, providing a new and improved shopping experience for the local community. The store is the latest in our ambitions to invest in our community stores across Northern Ireland, ensuring we are bringing even more value with our locally sourced and own-brand products, and our continued commitment to regular deals on high demand every day essentials.”

SPAR Anderson Gardens is open daily, 6-11pm.
