To celebrate even more festive freshness in-store this Christmas, SPAR NI has revealed that 10 lucky shoppers will win their Christmas dinner this year.

Encouraging repeat visits, shoppers have been invited into SPAR, EUROSPAR and ViVO stores across Northern Ireland to scan a QR code which will give them the chance to enter a competition to win Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

The competition will be supported by a collaboration with Q Radio to create even more chances to win, continue the festive cheer and bring more brand awareness to consumers during the busiest time of year.

Clare Bell from SPAR NI explains; “We know Christmas can be an expensive time of year and therefore an important time for our retailers to engage with their shoppers. By gifting 10 lucky shoppers with their full Christmas dinner is just one of the ways local SPAR retailers are giving back this year. Every winner will receive a £100 store voucher to pick up their favourites throughout the season, prompting even more return visits to fill their tables full of festive freshness.”

SPAR NI has seasonal eating all wrapped up for their retailers, from mince pies to party food, the fluffiest potatoes, succulent carrots and of course, the tastiest turkey crowns and gammons, everything from their festive spread comes from farmers and suppliers across the island of Ireland.

Also new for Christmas 2025 is SPAR NI’s The Kitchen Festive Edition, which sees the introduction of three new sharing products; Christmas tree tear and share bread, baked wreath with melted camembert, and an indulgent cinnamon doughball tear and share with vanilla frosting, positioning the retailer alongside the multiples with their limited edition seasonal food trends.

Local sourcing isn’t just for Christmas at the retailer, which has over 500 SPAR, EUROSPAR and ViVO stores in communities across Northern Ireland with shelves bursting with produce, meats and meals sourced locally.

In total, over 75% of all fresh products in-store are sourced from fields and farms across the island of Ireland, ensuring retailers give their shoppers the pick of the crop while supporting their local farmers and retailers.

Clare continues; “It is so important for our retailers to provide local food for our shoppers. Not only do our products taste better because they are fresher thanks to minimum travel miles, but it means we can also support farmers and producers in our local area. We have gammon from Cookstown, plus carrots, potatoes and parsnips from County Down, and our range of festive desserts are made in County Armagh.

“To bring our supplier stories to life, we’ve gone behind the scenes with our local suppliers to show shoppers the passion and dedication that goes into bringing fantastic flavours and products to their Christmas dinner table. Joining us on this festive journey is Carl Johannesson, our in-house chef, along with social media star, Gerry Lavz, who together will showcase the people and stories behind the food that makes Christmas with SPAR NI so special.

“The videos can be viewed on our spar-ni website and social media platforms, which are also the perfect place to get inspired for everything that goes into the Christmas spread.”

Providing value at this time of year is also important to the retailer, and from 8th December, SPAR, EUROSPAR and ViVO retailers will offer Christmas ham, parsnips, carrots, Brussel sprouts and potatoes for under £10.

Not even letting a ‘picky bit’ go to waste, Chef Carl Johannesson has created delicious recipes to inspire festive sandwiches, showstopping party plates and cheeseboards, as well as offering creative ideas to use-up leftovers from pies to pasta.

Clare finished; “We are supporting our retailers this festive season with content that will drive shoppers into their stores. Everything our shoppers need for Christmas and all the various celebrations it brings can be found at SPAR, EUROSPAR and ViVO and we are so proud to bring so many local products to our shelves. No need to be making as many stops as Santa this Christmas, it’s all under one roof at our stores.”
