Back to school boost for Co. Down schools, thanks to community supermarket stores
SPAR and EUROSPAR stores across the country are continuing their support for local communities this new school year by giving away a total of £7,500.
15 schools were awarded £500 as they made their return this September, including four County Down schools Largymore Primary School, Crawfordsburn Primary School, Brooklands Primary School and Longstone Special School.
Shoppers were invited to nominate their local schools to receive the cash. From textbooks to sports equipment and classroom upgrades, the winning schools can spend the £500 on whatever is most needed this new school year.
SPAR and EUROSPAR store teams are dedicated to sustaining and developing their local communities and they have been giving back to local schools across the country throughout the year.
The other winning schools included Coagh Primary School, Harmony Hill Primary School, St. Bernards Primary School, Sacred Heart Primary School, St Patrick’s Primary School, Belvoir Park Primary School, Tobermore Primary School, Orchard County Primary School, Cliftonville Integrated Primary School, St MacNissi’s Primary School and Enniskillen Model Primary School.
Alex Long at Henderson Group, which owns the SPAR and EUROSPAR brands in Northern Ireland, commented, “Giving back to our local communities is at the heart of everything we do. We know schools are often under pressure, so it’s great to be able to provide even more local schools with a boost this year to help them purchase much needed equipment for the new school year and show our support for our communities.”
