Millisle store marks anniversary with local community celebrations
EUROSPAR Millisle recently marked six years in business by celebrating with their local community.
To mark their anniversary, the team held a community fun day with exciting spin the wheel games and a raffle with prizes including a 50-inch TV and a voucher to be spent in local restaurant, Pier 36. The fun day was held in aid of Air Ambulance NI, raising over £1,000 for the charity.
The local community has always been at the heart of the store, with the team regularly taking part in fundraisers for local charities including Cancer Fund for Children, Action Mental Health, Autism NI, Chest Heart & Stroke and many more, raising over £19,400 for local charities over the past six years.
The store has also shown support to local schools in a number of ways over the years including helping build a mini EUROSPAR play area in Millisle Primary School, providing shelving, hi-vis vests and EUROSPAR fleeces for the pupils to support their learning, as well as providing sports day kits for both Millisle Primary School and Killard House School.
The team also show ongoing support to local community groups including Millisle Community Association and recently donated planters to Make Millisle Great Again. Their support for local groups has a huge impact on the community as Janine Baldie from Make Millisle Great Again commented, “We are so grateful for the support EUROSPAR Millisle have shown us, having local businesses who will get behind community initiatives makes such a difference.”
The store recently completed a small refurbishment with new additions for shoppers including a rebrand of the Daily Deli to Delish and the introduction of a chicken bar for lunch on the go, as well as an extended confectionary range.
Funded by the local community, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is also installed outside the store. The lifesaving equipment is maintained by EUROSPAR Millisle and is available for the community 24/7 even when the store is not open.
Store manager Joanne Knox commented, “Our store is at the heart of the Millisle community, and we are extremely proud of the relationships we have built with our shoppers over the years. What makes the store so special is our amazing team, they are friendly, hardworking and know many of our shoppers by name, they genuinely all care about providing a welcoming and personal experience for each and every one of our shoppers.
“We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating this anniversary. As a community focused store, it was important to us to celebrate alongside our shoppers and show our appreciation for all their support over the years with our community fun day. We would like to thank our fantastic store team and our loyal customers for their continued support, and we look forward to serving the community from EUROSPAR Millisle for many years to come.”
George Rankin, Retail Director at Henderson Group which owns the EUROSPAR brand in Northern Ireland, commented, “We wish to congratulate the entire team at EUROSPAR Millisle on this anniversary. They are such an integral part of their local community already and it’s great to see them celebrating alongside their shoppers.”
