Local store celebrates a successful first year bringing positive impact to community
The team at a busy local store has celebrated their successful first year in business with their local community.
SPAR Twin Spires owned by Paula Clarke and Emma Cowan opened in March 2022 with a team of 20, and with a goal to bring even more positive impact to their local community.
Paula and Emma have stayed true to their word and have sponsored Immaculata FC, made donations to Foodstock, the local foodbank, and have supported a number of local schools’ after-school clubs, as well as sponsoring sports days at St Mary’s Primary School and St Peter’s Primary School.
The impact on the community doesn’t end there as the store has sponsored a local student to attend Queens University to study Nursing through the Aisling Bursaries programme and enabled a local young musician to attend a master class in traditional music.
Alongside their community engagement, the owners have endeavoured to bring a host of convenience for local shoppers, including 30 car parking spaces, enabling customers to stock up on SPAR NI’s unrivalled range of fresh and locally sourced groceries for tonight’s tea.
Complementing the six-pump GO fuel forecourt on site, the to-go offering instore ranges from Barista Bar coffee with the signature americano, flat white, cappuccino and latte offering, alongside hot chocolate and seasonal favourites and treats, plus dailyDeli food-to-go with hot food, cold deli and a chicken bar for local workers and passing trade.
The store celebrated their anniversary on 3rd March with cake and sweet treats, balloons and goodie bags and a special visit from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Christina Black. The store also held an exciting giveaway for their shoppers with 50 prizes to be won ranging from a free Barista Bar coffee to a Fitbit Smart Watch, with one lucky shopper winning a 50-inch Toshiba TV.
The store is also planning on spending their second year in business taking part in fundraising activities to raise money for the installation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) outside their store, making potentially lifesaving equipment available to the local community 24/7.
Paula Clarke, store owner, commented, “We can’t believe we’re celebrating our first anniversary of Twin Spires already; we’ve loved every minute of it. We have to thank our amazing staff and shoppers for our success this year and it’s been great being able to celebrate alongside them. We’re looking forward to many more years serving our community, being a hub for our neighbours and supporting local groups and initiatives in any way we can.”
