SPAR brings even more flavour to lunchtimes with heat and eat range

The owners of SPAR in Northern Ireland, Henderson Group, have announced an expansion of their own-brand The Kitchen range with the addition of new meals for one, broadening the appeal of the multi-million-pound line.

With more workers in Northern Ireland returning to the office, according to Ulster University’s ‘Is Remote Working, Working?’ report[1], the retailer has further developed the range and launched a competition to curb the boredom of a packed lunch and inject some flavour into workers’ midday meals.

The new meals for one will enhance the range and were created in collaboration with SPAR NI’s team of chefs and 11 local suppliers from across the island of Ireland, all taste-tested in partnership with Ulster University’s Food and Consumer Testing Suite (FACTS).

The new products set to spice up lunchtimes include roast chicken in a creamy peppercorn sauce with mash and crispy onions, roast chicken in a creamy leek sauce with mash, and roast chicken and gravy with mash and crispy onions.

To celebrate, SPAR NI has launched a competition for one workplace in Northern Ireland to win a lunch made up of the meals that are pre-prepared and ready to heat and eat, plus a suite at SSE Arena to watch a Belfast Giants game for a team night out.

Bronagh Henderson, Fresh Foods Marketing Manager commented; ‘The Kitchen, Cooked Locally’, comprises products which range from family favourites to exciting new flavours, including our new meals for one, which make a perfectly well-proportioned and tasty lunch.

“A Just Eat Business survey[2] tells us that 2 in 5 office workers will eat the same lunch at least twice a week, and Northern Ireland has the highest UK region of workers who eat the same lunch every day during the working week (44%). This is mainly because they don’t have the energy (50%) and due to cost (32%) and time restraints (23%). Our pre-prepared meals need a few minutes in the microwave and are competitively priced at two for £8, helping everyone reclaim a tastier lunch hour for minimal effort.”
