SPAR launches traditional Christmas bakes in collaboration with local bakery
SPAR NI has launched a range of traditional Bundt Cakes, a new and indulgent festive treat, in a collaboration with one of their bakery suppliers, Graham’s of Dromore.
Often found as the centre piece of European Christmas dining tables, SPAR NI has developed two new, exclusive Bundt Cake flavours for their enjoy local bakery range, helping shoppers to see in the festive season in sweet style; Lemon Drizzle and Chocolate & Salted Caramel.
Graham’s of Dromore worked with the Fresh Team at Hendersons to create the family favourite, inspired by the European café culture filtrating through Northern Ireland.
Eamon Taggart, Trading Manager at Henderson Group, which owns the SPAR brand in Northern Ireland says the new products are like nothing else in the marketplace right now; “Working with Graham’s, who have invested £5,000 in procuring authentic Bundt Cake tins from The States, we wanted to develop something completely different and really delicious for our enjoy local bakery line this Christmas.
“The Bundt Cake can be served as part of a dessert spread, or be given as a tasty gift for the season. They’re also a brilliant base for our creative shoppers to decorate and really make it a centre-piece show-stopper on Christmas Day.”
Steeped in baking history, the Bundt Cake is inspired by a European brioche-like cake called Gugelhupf, which, in the north of Germany is traditionally known as Bundkuchen. The moist sponge comes in a naturally festive wreath shape, finished with a drizzling of flavoured icing on top.
The Bundt Cakes takes the number of locally baked products in SPAR NI’s enjoy local bakery range to 41. Earlier this year, the bakeries which supply to the wholesaler reported the growth of the popular line had allowed them to create a total of nine new jobs.
The enjoy local bakery range is available across SPAR and EUROSPAR stores and supermarkets in Northern Ireland, with the Bundt Cakes available for the everyday value price of £4.49 each.
