100 miles in May for Broughshane’s Red Hot Chili Steppers
Three of the team from SPAR Broughshane have taken part in Cancer Research’s 100 miles in May challenge, raising over £2,000 for charity.
The challenge sees participants walking 100 miles in the month of May, and Amy Sneddon, Emma Erwin and Bronwyn Hillis, otherwise now known as SPAR Broughshane’s Red Hot Chili Steppers, decided to take part to aid Cancer Research in their life saving research. The team raised an amazing total of £2,235.
The whole store team joined in the fundraising by swapping their uniforms to dress in blue for the day to show their support for Cancer Research.
Amy, team leader at SPAR Broughshane, commented, “I thought this challenge would be great for me and some colleagues to get involved in as cancer is something that effects everyone, whether that be directly or someone they know, so we thought it would be great to raise money for a charity that will be close to everyone’s hearts.
“Emma went the extra mile and had finished her 100 by 17th May, but in aid of the amazing charity decided to keep walking and totaled 122 miles by 31st May.
“We want to thank all our shoppers and our local community for their support through our challenge. We collected donations in store and while on our walks and some customers even shared personal stories about their battles with cancer.”
Emma, file maintenance clerk at the store, added, “We really enjoyed taking part in this challenge and getting to know some of our shoppers more. We are so appreciative of the generosity in our community and we hope this donation goes a long way in helping Cancer Research continue their incredible work.”
