Local community store celebrates 20th anniversary
O’Kane’s SPAR in Carrickmore is celebrating 20 years serving the local community, with 20 special offers for shoppers.
The store, which is owned and run by Mickey and Aileen O’Kane, opened with just six employees in 2003 and now employs 25 from the local area.
Over the years, the store has been constantly improving to ensure it provides top quality services and products for its shoppers. In 20 years the store has undergone two significant refurbishments thanks to major investment from the O’Kane family. The most recent refurbishment brought a brand new look for the store, with new refrigeration, new flooring, and a number of new product ranges available, as well as the introduction of a new deli counter.
The store is at the heart of the local community, working closely with local schools and sports teams including Carrickmore GAA Club and St Colmcille’s Primary School in Carrickmore.
Mickey O’Kane, store owner, says the community feel is integral to their success as a store, “We love getting to know all our shoppers by name and seeing friendly faces every day. Our community’s loyalty to our store and team is the key to our success and it is important to all of us here at SPAR Carrickmore to give back in any way we can.”
To celebrate the anniversary, the store has reduced the prices of 100s of lines instore, as well as holding a special 20% discount on 20 items for one weekend only, Friday 27th – Sunday 29th October. Household essentials and favourites will be on offer for shoppers such as SPAR Milk 2 litre, SPAR Enjoy Local pancakes (8 pack), Heinz Baked Beans (415g), Kellogg’s Cornflakes (720g), Fox’s Favourites Biscuits (350g) and Golden Wonder Variety crisps (10 pack).
Mickey continued, “We are delighted to be able to celebrate this milestone with our shoppers and we look forward to many more successful years of trading at SPAR Carrickmore.”
