Staff from SPAR Randalstown have been feeling the burn as they get in a spin for local children’s cancer charity, Cancer Fund for Children, helping them raise £1,884.44 in a month.

June saw the team complete a spin-a-thon over two weekends, receiving generous donations from shoppers as each member of staff completed their designated times.

Team Leader Alastair Downes, who also completed the 100-mile Lap the Lough challenge recently with the Daisyhill Cycling Club which raised a whopping £11,352 for Cancer Fund for Children, says it’s a pleasure to get back to fundraising for the charity again.

Alastair commented; “It’s been so challenging for charities since the pandemic hit as they’ve still had to provide those vital services they offer for families living with cancer, but we have been severely restricted in how we can raise funds for them.

“Thankfully, we have been able to get store fundraising back on track and doing even more out in the great outdoors to turn challenges into fundraising opportunities and we’re delighted to donate £1,884.44 to Cancer Fund for Children from our activities in June.”
