The team at SPAR Greystone in Antrim recently hosted a charity day in aid of the Macmillan unit at Antrim Area Hospital, in memory of their late colleague, Izzy.

Izzy Lagan was a much-loved member of the team at SPAR Greystone for two years. The store fundraised for the Macmillan unit at Antrim Area Hospital where Izzy received great care at the end of her life. The charity day included staff taking part in a 12 hour ‘Miles for Macmillan’ walkathon on a treadmill instore, raffles with prizes for shoppers, and one member of staff, Julie Dean braved the shave in aid of the charity.

Denise Camlin, Senior Store Manager at SPAR Greystone commented, “Izzy was always very hands on with our store’s fundraising efforts. The Macmillan unit at Antrim Area Hospital is very small but a very personal and caring facility. The funds raised from our charity day will help the much-needed local facility continue to provide the amazing care that Izzy received, to others needing palliative care in the future. We want to thank our shoppers for their support, who helped us raise £4,800 on the day.

“We all dressed up in fancy dress with the theme ‘happy days’ for Izzy and incorporating sunflowers as they were Izzy’s favourite flower. We will all greatly miss Izzy, she was an amazing member of our team and great friend, and she was loved by all her colleagues here at SPAR Greystone and our shoppers. We were proud to honour her through this charity day and have planned more to come throughout the year in her memory.”
