Describe what a typical day at work looks like for you

Every day is different because HR is a very busy department. However, a typical week consists of dealing with various employee and other customer’s telephone and email queries, processing new starts/leavers/changes to employees’ contracts, issuing contracts and addendum’s, managing employee absence records and occupational health appointments, processing recruitment requests and advertising company vacancies on various  job boards, processing disciplinary/employment review meetings, making updates to personnel and recruitment management systems, processing employee value award requests, reference requests, filing.

Who and what are you responsible for?

I work alongside the other members of our HR Administration team and we all share our workload in the areas of recruitment, disciplinary/employment reviews/grievances, occupational health, new start, change of details, leaver processes, various HR queries coming from employees and the public.

How does your team fits into Henderson Wholesale?

We provide a comprehensive HR administration and support services to over 3000 employees across the Group, incl. Retail, Wholesale, Foodservice, Property, and Print.  We also maintain accurate and inclusive data on individual employees, which includes employee personal details, their terms and conditions of employment, attendance records and all the other areas of HR management. Precise record keeping is necessary to ensure that the organisation complies with legal regulations.

What are the best bits about your job?

That would be gaining new knowledge and learning new skills from handling the different HR queries and requests. Also, being part of making a difference to the company through assisting in recruitment and selection, and new employee on- boarding process, is very exciting.

What are the best bits about your company (Henderson Wholesale)?

Joining the Henderson Group was clearly the right choice for me. I enjoy the working environment here where we all share our knowledge and experience, the company’s culture is also great and I think the best thing is that Henderson’s is a group, I would say a big family that is continuously evolving, growing, and improving.

What is the best thing about your team?

They are a bunch of very friendly and experienced people, who are happy to share their knowledge and experience with the rest of the team and they are great FUN!

When not working, what can you be found doing?

I love to spend time with my family, especially taking my daughter and our dog for walks and short trips. I also enjoy DIY home decorating, gardening and baking, especially for various family occasions.
