Describe what a typical day at work looks like for you
First thing I clear all emails as soon as I log into my computer.
I then email and telephone customers to obtain payment for overdue accounts while answering any phone calls that come in from customers.
Who and what are you responsible for?
I have 1 girl Amanda Lowrie who reports into me. I am responsible for collecting monies owed by customers on a monthly basis. I do this via telephone calls, emails and liaising with the Sales Reps. I resolve queries on customer accounts by issuing credits due or copy invoices if required.
I also deal with the opening of new accounts I do this by running credit checks and ringing trade references in order to obtain information on the customer who wants credit with us to ascertain they are credit worthy.
On occasion I also allocate payments against accounts if required.
How does your team fit into Henderson Group?
We would work along with Retail Finance as our customers would be retail suppliers so we arrange contras to get our accounts paid directly from the monies they are due.
On a personal level I look after the Staff Cash Sales in Foodservice so everyone from the whole of the group contact me in order to get accounts set up. I currently have 464 accounts for all employees which range from warehouse to directors.
What are the best bits about your job?
No 2 days are the same and I get to speak with customers and colleagues on a daily basis.
I am also very lucky that I chair the charity committee in Foodservice and raise money for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. I love doing the fund raising work and getting people involved from pub quiz’s, car washing days to BBQ days.
Best bits about your company (Henderson Foodservice)?
Fast moving, growing and improving continually. It’s a nice friendly place to work. People are always nice and more than willing to help out. My office in particular has a family feel and I have made a lot of good lifelong friends since I started working for Foodservice.
What is the best thing about your team?
Support.
My team is made up of 4 people including myself. Everyone always pulls together if anything needs done. I know I have their support 100% and the same goes for them from me.
What attracted you to Henderson Group?
Truthfully it was 11 years ago and Reid Accountancy placed me here!!!
When not working, what can you be found doing?
I like going training and spending time with my family and friends. I like to go on holiday and try to get away at least twice a year.
